The Bragging Post

Kathryn bragging about Nate-
While finishing up school this spring and summer terms, Nate is also doing an internship for a social finance firm, RSF.  Although it is based in San Francisco, Nate and his team of 3 others work from BYU.  They are in charge of compiling the information for a database of institutions that finance social ventures and nonprofits. So, lets say someone needs funding for their new social business, this would tell them which institutions would be most likely to lend to them.  Nothing like this currently exists in the social impact field. It's kind of like lending tree does now for anyone looking for mortgage loans from a regular bank. Right now he is coming up with a name for it so he can buy the URL.... I'll keep you posted so when it's up and running you can check it out. Pretty legit!  His team is also doing due diligence for a couple loans.  They are working on one right now for a Culinary school/food recycling program that teaches homeless people how to cook, providing them training, then places them in jobs around the city.  I know way more about it than I ever wanted to, but it is pretty cute how excited he is about it.

His other favorite topic to tell me about is his idea for a new fast food vending machine run by robots.  RoboChef.  It would actually be pretty cool, to have it make the food there right in front of you, with no human error.  One machine could make hamburgers to order, shakes and fries.  So basically Nate's turning into a real business man!

Nate bragging about Kathryn-
Kathryn is going to take over the baking world with her new found caking abilities. She went to a cake decorating class on Saturday and made an amazing cake. It tastes delicious and looks impressive, especially for a first-timer. The teacher said she'd never seen someone do that design and called Kathryn a "perfectionist" aka, her cake was perfect.

Not to belabor the point but seriously, it was really tasty and looked awesome.

Not that all I have to brag about Kathryn is food related, but she also made an impressive dinner last Sunday. She made this cheesy artisan bread that was delicious and repeated her previous success at lasagna. We were expecting a newer couple in our ward, but unfortunately they flaked out last second. Their loss--the lasagna rocked.

Kathryn has even more bragging to do-
This morning I heard Nate in the kitchen and thought maybe he was cooking me breakfast. But I knew we were out of all breakfast foods, even cereal, so I was confused and feel back asleep. Little did I know while I was gone at the cake class yesterday, Nate got on the bus and went shopping for flowers and fruit for a surprise Mother's Day breakfast in bed this morning.

P.S.- For those who are thinking it's because I'm expecting, sorry to crush you.... I'm not
